Nepal 16-18th C Copper and silver Dipankara Buddha . The sculpture done in a copper alloy with silver inlay to the forehead the palms of the hands as well as the front and back of the skirt and a star on his chest. Very well sculpted and cast. Showing extensive signs of use from wear to black altar soot , note the base where the rim edge has nearly worn away the metal slivers used to hold the base plate on. The sculpture matches exactly to one in the Victoria and Albert Museum but theirs seems to have a replaced base, these two sculptures were almost certainly by the same sculptor. We have included an image of this sculpture by an image on the tablet of the V&A sculpture for reference. Size H just under 9.75" weight 3.84 pounds. This came from a 1970s estate in PA.
