The first coin in our Concorde 50th Anniversary Collection, ˜Taking Flight. celebrates the first time Concorde took off on 2nd March 1969, ushering in the Age of Supersonics. 
Over its nearly 50,000 flights with British Airways Concorde carried over 2.5 million passengers at speeds of more than twice the speed of sound (Mach 2.04 or 1,354 mph). 
The obverse of the coin features Concorde taking flight for the first time. The reverse features a portrait of the Queen.
