Japanese Geisha Juggler #1326
A very nice Dahl Jensen figure of a Japanese Geisha Juggler figurine #1326. She is dressed in an elaborate floral kimono and juggles two small white balls. Designed by Dahl Jensen himself (other sculptors also worked for Dahl Jensen) probably in the 1950s. Dahl Jensen died in 1960, and this was among his last creations.
Since it was one of the later figurines to be put in production (figurine numbers run from 1000 to 1392), it was in production for a relatively short time. Book Value in 2003 (Popes) was $650- $900.
The Dahl Jensen factory stopped producing figurines in 1981. Dahl Jensen figurines are known for having more detail and more color than most figurines produced by either Royal Copenhagen or Bing and Grondahl.
Approximately 6 7/8 inches (a little under 18 cm) tall. Full Dahl Jensen backstamp, including the crowned initials DJ trademark and the words COPENHAGEN and DENMARK.
EXCELLENT CONDITION (no chips, cracks, repairs or other significant defects). Marked as second quality (scratch through trademark, almost impossible to see in a photo) for no obvious reason. A handsome figurine. If someone else’s listing doesn’t SAY it is first quality, you can reasonably assume that it is either second quality or the seller doesn’t know the difference, and you won't know what you're buying.
