VICTORIAN PATCHWORK REVERSIBLE QUILT, TRIANGLES AND HEXAGON, c1880

This 1880s patchwork two sided reversible cotton quilt has a variety of prints, including floral, checked, polka dot, striped and solids. The binding border is in red. The top section is made with triangles creating squares. The other side is made of small honeycomb hexagons. The simple hand sewn quilting follows the line of the hexagons creating a honeycomb design.
A vast array with colors and patterns of the rainbow in the cotton fabrics. This quilt is a wonderful sewn together work of art. The quilter put a lot of thought into the selections of materials to give the quilt a great visual look.

Deaccession from the Packwood House Museum of Lewisburg, Pa. The museum had experienced decreased attendance for more than a decade and was also negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to its operations permanently closing in October 2020. This quilt has a sewn in fabric label with the museums name and catalog identification number, as pictured. Also the museums paperwork documentation forms for this quilt will be attached.

CONDITION
Very good condition.  No holes, very few small stains, no fading and still vibrant. The quilt has a number of green tapes sewn into the edge of the quilt for hanging.

A great heirloom quilt to be added to your collection.

A wonderful worthy example to add to a collection or to start one.

This quilt is reminiscent of a very grand and regal period when quilters had time to skillfully finish a quilt. The quilt would work on a full sized bed and is in very good, unwashed condition.
Could be used in your summer cottage home as a wall hanging or rustic home decor.
