VICTORIAN 2 PIECE SATIN AND VELVET VISITING DRESS 1890s WITH BONNET

A turn of the century navy blue satin colored outfit, 2 piece in construction dress with multi colored striped velvet trim at collar, extending down front bodice opening and on cuff. Outfit has a bonnet included.

The bodice is lined with a brown cotton and has a front metal button closures. Hand stitched as well as machine sewn.

The front of the skirt has three tiered pleats below waist and back has a full fabric bustle panel enhancement. Pleats continue down center and sides with two vertical panels of velvet between pleating. The skirt is lined with a dark brown chintz cotton lining. Bottom of front skirt has small knife pleating at hem.

CONDITION
The outfit is in fair/good condition. Bodice has discoloration underarm stains on inside lining of bodice with gusset sewn into underarm on one sleeve and small splits found in other underarm. No fading to material. There are period repairs. Area of repair patch at bottom of opening on bodice. Buttons are not matching. Small seam opening back of bodice on shoulder arm seam. Slight wear on velvet front around button holes.
The skirt is in very good condition, with no damage to inner lining. Skirt has no stains.
