Port Lincoln Parrot Twenty-Eight Parrots Neville Cayley Art Print Plate 15

This 43+ year old vintage, full-color Art Print, The Port Lincoln Parrot, The Twenty-Eight Parrot, is from a renowned Neville Cayley painting collection, featuring Australian Parrots and Cockatoos.  

The Port Lincoln Parrot (Barnardius Zonarius) is also known as the Bauer's Parakeet, the Banded Parrot, and the Yellow-Naped Parrot.  Book Plate 15.

The Cloncurry Parrot (Barnardius Semitorquatus) is probably a subspecies of the Port Lincoln Parrot.
 
Neville William Cayley was a celebrated Australian author, artist and ornithologist.  He produced Australia's first comprehensive bird field guide What Bird is That?  In 1960 it was rated the all-time best seller in Australian natural history and remains a classic birding reference to this day.  Cayley was the chief painter of Australian birds. His most distinctive and influential work was done through the medium of books.
