NEWFOUNDLAND 129 THREE/CENTS SURCHARGE ON 15c 1920 PROVISIONAL USED CV$50

Type II 'THREE CENTS' on 15 cent provisional surcharge issue of September 13, 1920 with surcharge bars 13.5mm apart. A total of 47,000 Type II surcharged provisionals were printed (sheets of 25) with wider bars in an attempt to cover the value tabs when the initial narrow Type I surcharge failed to do so. Used with non distinct cancel. Couple of small stains of unknown origin mentioned for the record. Listed as 146 in the 2020 edition of the Stanley Gibbons catalogue with a retail selling price in used condition of 42pds - approximately $50.00 USD. Although Stanley Gibbons retail prices are frequently higher than values given in other stamp catalogues (that don't make a market in stamps), in my opinion, Newfoundland stamps in good used condition are undervalued in the current marketplace.
