Vintage Metal Tin Mail Sorter Letter Holder Herb Planter Kitchen Vegetables Rusty Dented Repurposed Kitsch

Condition:
This is a vintage 1950s metal tin mail sorter.  It has a garden vegetable design with gold on white metal.  It is a 3-slot mail holder with key hooks on the bottom.  I am sure when this was new, it was simply gorgeous.  Well, it has seen a few things in its time and is no longer "cute" in the conventional way.  It is very old, very dented, very rusty and very dirty...but all that rusty, crusty age is a beauty all its own.  I thought I could clean this up but when I got it wet, the image decals washed right off...but I stopped before I managed to remove the top decal.  I would be gentle in your cleaning if you want to preserve the garden vegetalbe decal. I decided I would leave the rest of the dirt.  If you wanted to clean this up, repaint it and redecorate it, it would be a cute vintage upcycled mail sorter.  Or,  you can go with the rust and dust and turn this into a cute little herb planter for your kitchen.  I think that would be so cute!  Even if you only went with faux plants so as to not add to the rust, it would be super cute on your porch or pantry.  It measures 21" tall x 5" wide x 2.5" thick.  It weighs 1 lb 7 oz.  It is in poor condition.  Please see the photos for specifics on the condition of this sorter turned planter.
