HISTORY
- On June 26, 1903, she was completed at Yokosuka Shipyard and classified as a destroyer.
- In 1904, the Russo-Japanese War broke out, and she participated in the attack on the Port of Arthur and the Battle of the Yellow Sea. On October 11 of the same year, she was struck by lightning off the coast of Port Arthur and lost her hull aft of the officers' quarters. She participated in the Battle of the Sea of Japan as the command ship of the 1st Destroyer Squadron of the 1st Fleet, and was involved in a collision with her colleague ship Yugiri during the night battle on May 27 . Later, she also participated in the Battle of Sakhalin.
- On November 24, 1911, she stranded and sank due to stormy weather near the Sugazaki Peninsula in Matoya Bay, Toba City, present-day Mie Prefecture. Lieutenant Commander Michisuke Otaki, commander of the 12th Destroyer Squadron, and 44 others were killed in action. Eight survived thanks to the rescue efforts of local villagers in the town of Ousatsu, Nagaoka-mura. Today, a monument to the martyrdom of Harusame is still maintained and preserved at the head of Hachosho Road on the Sugasaki Peninsula, overlooking the site of the accident.
- On December 28 of the same year, the ship was discharged, and on August 1, 1912, it was sold as sunk.
