The Kentucky Derby, the 135th running Churchill Downs Saturday, May  2, 2009.

I was invited by Yum Corporation to the Kentucky Derby on May 2. 2009. This was presented to us as a gift from Yum and the Hawthorne Suites in Louisville Kentucky. It is still in the original plastic.

This was a historic win as the underdog , Mine That Bird, who was in last place ended up winning the race.

Here is a short description of what occurred.

Mine that Bird has won the Kentucky Derby! An impossible result here!" The ending of the race came as a shock to those in attendance as Mine That Bird, trained by "Chip" Woolley Jr. and ridden by Calvin Borel, running dead last until the final turn, suddenly moved into the lead in the final furlong.
