Extraordinary bike from the master builder Paul Charrel
Charrel built unique made to measure bicycles from a tiny shop/workshop in Lyon.
He worked on his own, and spent countless hours on the exquisite refinements that characterize his randonneur bikes.
His production in the 40s and 50s was tiny, and reserved to an elite of connoisseurs from the Lyon region.
This particular bicycle is also unique by the frame size, I've never seen a Charrel this big before.
Superb quality paintwork, original Charrel decals (rare).
Wonderful parts, and unique frame details.
The bicycle, as was often the case when thin tyres came into fashion, is equipped with Wolber super-randonneur tyres, but would look better with wider clinchers. This minor detail apart, the bike is in quite extaordinary 100% original condition, as it left the rue Berthelot shop front.
All-internal cables, flawless welds on the lugless frame, crossed stays, beautiful double plate forktop with chrome highlights.
The paint is deep glossy oven-cooked enamel black, with very fine green lining.
Vitus extra-léger tubing throughout.
Charrel rear carrier.
Mafac cantis and levers.
Lefol martelé fenders and lighting.
Super rare Lefol rims.
Charrel front changer, Cyclo rear with the specific and super cool Charrel quadruple hanger.
Stronglight cranks, TA triple rings, Berthet Lyotard platform pedals.
Annular bearing bottom bracket with custom alloy dust covers.
Maxi-Car hubs with Bell wing-nuts.
This is a totally unique bicycle, there is no other Charrel known in the world ressembling this model.
