​The classic symptoms of a trolley that requires a new potentiometer are:

• The trolley has an intermittent fault - it won't start sometimes and/or it cuts out when the troll, and/or
• The trolley will sometimes move off on its own with the potentiometer in the off position, and/or
• The trolley is dead.
