Rooster 6” x 3.75” x 1” on one side of thSpringerle Cookie Molds originated in Germany dating as far back to the 14 th century in Switzerland.  These molds were used to stamp cookies and breads that would rise in a 3D affect and were used for to communicate with images as many people could not read or write.  The molds were made of wood, wax, clay, and metal.  The scenes portrayed celebrations like births, weddings and engagements.  They often had biblical scenes and were given out as gifts at Christmas time.


Mixed Lot of 5 pieces - 1 Large Wax Rooster with II stamped on the side, two hand made and carved on wood from Switzerland - Cherubs/Rosette.  A dual carved wood mold with a fish and a mushroom.  Included is a very early wooden pastry rolling pin


is mold has marks of II stamped as a Mark of sorts.

Rolling Pin a little over 12” Long, Each Handle 3.5” Roller 4.75” Long 2” Thick

The pin shows a lot of wear and deep under the patina are carved rings, see photos.
