Here for sale I have this vintage Royal Navy Mess uniform. This uniform consists of the trousers, waist coat and mess Jacket and the salmon pink stripes indicate the rank was ward master  between 1951 -1979.

This was made by a popular military tailor called Whitaker's and son in Chatham,  they were established in 1904 and didn't cease trading until the 1970s  when a shopping centre  opened in central Chatham . Whittakers was forced to move and was no longer  central for the seaman to see  so didn't survive.

This uniform is in A1 condition, I would go as far to say like new. Please take a close look at the photos as they will form part of the description, and you will see for yourself what fantastic this vintage mess uniform is.

The cropped jacket has gold gilt buttons with the navy on the front of the buttons. The sleeves have the stripes and rank of a lieutenant , there is a pinkish stripe in between the gold stripes and loop.

The button's are gilt on brass with the top edge.

The Male Officer Dinner Dress Blue Jacket (DDBJ) Uniform is worn at all official functions where civilian attendees would normally wear a Black Tie ensemble. It is prescribed for wear during Winter by all male officers with a rank of Lieutenant Commander (O-4) or higher.

In addition to the high-waisted unbelted trousers with a hidden button fly front closure, a hidden pocket with 2 side pockets. Also buttons around the inside of the waist for brace's .
