Maneki-Neko, 'The Japanese Lucky Welcome Cat'. Although the cat looks as if it is waving, the gesture is beckoning, the way the Japanese beckon. The figure of the cat has its origins in Japan, where there are numerous folk tales about how the cat figure came to be. It is often displayed in a business, to beckon customers into the shop, and as a symbol of good luck. Although it originated in Japan, the cat figure is now popular in many Asian cultures.
These tiny toys are made of flexible plastic, highly detailed, and artfully painted. A welcome addition to any miniature toy box or toy room.
