Up for bid is a nice old English brown stoneware  LANGLEY ware milk jug with an applied pewter lid by Lovatt & Lovatt of Nottingham.  The piece is 5 1/2 inches tall and about 3 1/8 inches in diameter. It has a dark brown body, with a textured lower section and a glossy upper.  It looks a lot like Doulton Lambeth ware.  The rim is fitted with a hinged pewter lid, complete with folding thumb piece, which is a neat feature.  The thumb piece is fitted with a white glass? ball as shown.  The piece is marked "England" in script, with "1/2 PT" and two impressed "T"s.

Condition on the pitcher is very good.  There are no chips or cracks, just normal light scratches from use.  A nice piece!
