For sale is an unusual English sterling and wood reproduction mazer bowl by CP&S, Birmingham, 1960-61.  The piece is about 5 5/8 inches in diameter by 2 1/4 inch tall. and the silver portion weighs 166 grams.  It has a silver skirt around the middle into which the wooden base slides.  The base is of a lightweight tropical wood.  The piece is lightly monogrammed “C / RH June 25, 1961” in the interior.  It is marked with the [C.P.&S.] maker’s mark and Birmingham hallmarks for 1960-61 below the rim on one side and also on the base under the wooden insert, though those hallmarks are deliberately defaced, likely because they are redundant.

Condition on the piece is fairly good.  The finish on the wood is quite worn, though there are no chips or cracks.  The silver has a couple of small dings and normal wear.  A fine piece of English sterling!
