The Fulltone Custom-Shop PlimSoul mk2 improves on the circuitry of the original PlimSoul, which features Fulltone's patented dual-stage clipping circuit. The new mk2 offers even more sonic possibilities. There are two main types of overdrive circuits that use operational amplifier ICs: soft clipping, in which a clipping circuit is installed in the feedback circuit of the operational amplifier to produce natural distortion, and hard clipping, in which a clipping circuit is installed after the operational amplifier is amplified to produce hard, aggressive distortion. The PlimSoul mk2 has both types of clipping circuits, creating a complex drive sound that mixes both soft and hard clipping. If you feel that overdrive alone is not enough, you can add a distortion feel with hard clipping, or conversely, you can add a warm, fat overdrive feel to distortion.
The mk2 also has a higher input impedance than the original model, so it is tuned to respond more delicately to the VOL of the guitar and the output of the pickups. You can also adjust the amount of bass frequencies to match your amp.
