Three apps for your comfort

Whether field recording, music production, or podcasting. With the H8's color touchscreen, you can choose from three apps to suit your project and work in an optimal workflow.

Podcasting

The PODCAST app makes it easy to create a complete podcast. Tap the four sound pads on the app screen to play a sound effect or jingle at any given moment; in addition to 13 preset sounds, you can load your favorite samples via SD card.

The PODCAST app offers four microphone inputs and four sound pads.

MUSIC

The MUSIC app controls all important recording points such as audio levels, faders, and meters. It functions as an MTR with up to 10 tracks*, allowing recording of large bands. Mixing and overdubbing are possible, as well as EQ and compressor. You can also connect to Guitar Lab via USB to access a vast library of amp/cabinet models and effects.

Field Recording

An application for field recording that allows up to 12 tracks* to be recorded. In addition to a large meter display for easy level check of each track, key settings such as low cut, compressor, limiter, and noise gate can be made.

Remote operation

The H8 can be remotely controlled from an iOS device by connecting the BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter (sold separately). You can monitor the level meter and perform record/playback/stop transport operations.

Input/Output Connectors

The H8 is equipped with four XLR inputs, each with its own gain control and pad switch, and two XLR/TRS combo jacks with Hi-Z switches for direct connection of line-level signals, microphones, electric guitar, and bass. Audio monitoring of each track can be done through the 3.5mm headphone jack. Multi-Channel Audio Interface

The H8 can also function as a powerful USB audio interface. By connecting a PC or tablet via USB, up to 12 channels can be recorded simultaneously.

Advanced Audio Editing

The H8 comes with a free download license for Steinberg's Cubase LE and WaveLab Cast. WaveLab Cast" offers a wealth of built-in editing, mixing, and sound quality adjustment functions for finishing your recorded projects.

For Podcasting

WaveLab Cast" provides a direct connection to podcast directories such as "Spreaker" and "Podbean" for quick upload of finished episodes, as well as the ability to create directories and publish RSS feeds.

For Video Audio Production

Importing video files into "WaveLab Cast" automatically extracts the audio. This allows you to make adjustments such as reducing unwanted noise levels or suppressing excessive dental grinding (sarcastic sounds). Using the meter option, you can also create new tracks, fade in music, and use EQ and compressors. The finished audio track can then be merged back into the video file with the "WaveLab Cast" export function.

For Field Recording

WaveLab Cast supports 96 kHz and includes a high-end resampler. It is also possible to cut unwanted sounds and noise with RestoreRig. New files can also be created with the Snap function and Crossfade option. The finished audio can then be exported as a file in all major audio formats.
