Two Scarce MNH XF Centennial Unsevered Coils in 2 formats -- 1. Block 4 & 2. Strip 8 Variety 8¢ Coil Issue, No Tagging, Very LF Paper, PVA Gum.These, while seldom seen are sometimes referred to as the Unsevered Coil / with Tabbing aka Bridging. This sort of Printing Variety tends not to make it past the Printers but somehow this specific Centennial Variety did reach the Postal Outlet stage. Those familiar with the Production of those stamps would know they are the result of a large wheel rotary plate of 20 stamps wide by 72 stamps in length. The curved plates are then fitted to the wheel which prints a continuous roll. On occasion the Cutter fails to complete the cut leaving just a small portion known as the Tab (or Bridge) every so often to permit the Clerk to snap off a Roll of 100 from the larger Roll. Thus we get the Unsevered Variety, which when first noticed was listed by some as * Imperforate *. *** New Lots Listed Every Few Days *** |
