Shortly after Lalique's death, Worth's "nose" (their perfume creator) had a major dispute with the management. He left the company and was immediately hired by Raphael, an upstart French parfumeur with great ambitions. There, he created a carbon copy of "Requête", almost exactly the same perfume which he called "Réplique". It was a play with words as in French legalese, a "Réplique" is the reply to a "Requête". That Raphael had the bottle made by Lalique's son, Marc, did not soothe feelings at Worth. They sued... and lost. By1950, Worth was prohibited from selling the perfume in France. It went on for a few years  in the USA and elsewhere, but then disappeared. Ironically, "Réplique" remained in production for decades but without Worth's glamour.

This was the Réplique bottle for handbags, a small "Pomme de Pin" or "Pine Cone" created by Marc Lalique for 1/4 oz. From then on, Worth stopped buying from Lalique. They eventually made-up 15 years later.

The bottle has an amusing design, a small glass pine cone with a plastic screw-top and a ribbon as a stem. It quickly became successful, from 1946 to the 1980's. The mark were "REPLIQUE, RAPHAEL, PARIS and LALIQUE (photo 8). Since it was produced after René's death, it is not mentioned in the large Marcilhac book but it is photographed and referenced in Glenn and Marylou Utt's excellent book on "The Lalique Perfume Bottles" pic 148 on page 81 (Photo 8).

The bottle, the cover, the ribbon, the markings the display and the box are in MINT condition. I have not seen one of these as good in decades.
