NEWFOUNDLAND 45a 1898 1c YELLOW GREEN EDWARD PRINCE OF WALES MPH (#25) CV$60

One cent, yellow green, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) in Highland dress, from the British American Bank Note Co. (Montreal) issue of 1898*, engraved, no watermark, perf. 12.0x12.0. Printed on stout, crisp, yellowish wove paper with horizontal mesh, yellowish gum. Approximately 15% of original gum disturbed by previous hinging, hinge remnant. Sound, fault-free example of this Newfoundland stamp.

*Contrary to listings in many catalogues, there were no 1c green, Edward Prince of Wales stamps printed in 1896 - the only printing that year was the 1c brown Edward stamps (Newfoundland #43).
