The SL50PTs puts out an awesome 25 lbs of drag at max. That is a lot for such a small, lightweight reel. The Smoke Inshore SL50PTs is perfect for fishing in saltwater. The reel has corrosion resistant protection that will help it hold up but we recommend you clean it with freshwater after every use
