Are these DVD-Rs illegal to sell?
Absolutely not! All movies we sell on eBay are believed to be in the public domain, and are sold from one collector to another. No rights are given or implied. What we charge is the service of duplicating the disc, and of course our time in hunting down these rare titles in the best condition possible. If a particular title becomes commercially available via an established home video company, we must and will discontinue selling it immediately.

The Brain That Wouldn't Die

(1959 / 1962; WIDESCREEN; COLORIZED; 82-minute running time)

Like a gift that keeps on giving, you can watch this insane, sleazy cheapie (about a determined mad doc searching for the perfect body to attach to his decapitated fiancée's head) once a year, and find a new absurdity each time. Endlessly entertaining, fun for the whole sick family.

One of the must-own, truly psychotronic films. Unlike fun "bad" movies such as the classic Plan 9 from Outer Space, Brain's charms lie in its audacious central idea and the intriguing boldness of its bad taste (as opposed to the laughable ineptitude and unique personalities that make the likes of Plan 9 required viewing, as well.)

Herb Evers (later known as Jason Evers) stars as a bullheaded surgeon experimenting with the possibilities of transplantation; he's all fired-up to prove he can save / prolong / improve lives with his unheard-of methods.

When his fiancee Jan (Virginia Leith, forever immortalized in this very role) is accidentally decapitated in a car accident with him at the wheel, Evers preserves her living head on a table and... goes on an almost casual search for the perfect new body, one to suit his tastes!

From here the movie goes even more bonkers but also maintains a fascinating, morality-play aura, a depth rarely seen in most trash films. The exploitation of Jan's disembodied head (connected by tubes to keep her alive while she pleads "Let me die!"), the beauty contest / nightclub / figure model scenes (where Evers' ogling eye scouts for heavenly bodies), and the failed, monstrous experiment that our scientist keeps locked up in a closet are, somehow, not quite enough to diminish the film's sober "message" : Man must keep out of God's realm or pay the ultimate price.

Don't overlook the amusing, gothic staginess of Leslie Daniels' acting, playing the "tragic" role of Kurt (assistant to Evers in his pathetic, bare-bones lab/home).  Daniels adds much to the atmosphere of this piece, perhaps believing he's unearthed Shakespearean touches that were buried in his copy of the script. A real solid sender, Mr. Daniels!

An absolute cornerstone of psychotronic horror/sci-fi. Includes the flesh-bitten-off scene near the finale.

NICE WIDESCREEN PRINT TRANSFER, COLORIZED. Looks sharper than our images shown here.
