Bakuman. (English title: Bakuman.) is a Japanese manga work written by Tsugumi Ohba and drawn by Takeshi Obata.

The story takes place in 2008 in Yakusa City, Saitama Prefecture. Despite his high drawing ability, third-year junior high school student Mashiro Takashi (Psycho) has no dreams for the future and spends his boring days just going through the motions and living an ordinary life. Psycho's uncle was Taro Kawaguchi, a manga artist whose works were once serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump and made into an anime.

One day, Saiko is asked by his brilliant classmate and aspiring author, Takagi Akito (Shujin), if he would like to become a manga artist with me. At first he rejects the invitation, but after promising his unrequited classmate Miho Ama, who aspires to be a voice actor, that they will marry if the manga is made into an anime and that they will not see each other in person until then, he decides to become a manga artist.

Psycho's grandfather gives him the workroom that his uncle used to use, and he and Shujin stay there and devote themselves to writing his first work. He learns that Niizuma Eiji, a runner-up for the Tezuka Award, is of the same age as him and sees him as a rival. The two eventually bring their first work to the JUMP editorial department, where they meet Tetsu Hattori, a talented editor, and are recognized for their qualities as manga artists.

They found a direction for their style that was not in the mainstream of JUMP, and their manga was published in Akamaru JUMP under the pen name ""Ashrogi Muto"" (ア城木夢叶). The duo continued to be unsure of their direction, but after a chance encounter with Eiji and the crisis of the duo's dissolution, they won a serialization in Jump and continued on their way to becoming serialized artists in Jump despite various hardships.
