On October 15, 1940, Esquire magazine introduced Alberto Vargas's Vargas Girl to the world. By the end of WWII, troops in every part of the world were attesting to teh Varga Gril's unique importance as a motivator! A combination oof barely concealed sexuality and wholesome domesic virtue, she had come to represent everything American soldiers were fighting to defend.

By 1947 the Varga Girl was finished. Her close connection with the war, her brief life and sudden demise, and Vargas's devotion to her all contributed to the legend of the Varga Girl, raising her well above her contemporaries and proving her America's most endearing and enduring pin-up.



She is eternally young and untouched by time.


This portfolio is actually a large spiral bound calendar with glossy pinups, suitable for framing or admiration! It is an off year for resuability, accurate every 19 years. This will be accurate again in 1942!


It's very large, measuring 15x10.75" and was in fact sealed until I opened it to snap a few pix from withing. Those you see in this listing are directly from the portfolio. It does not qualify for media mail postage, but is not that heavy... Grab it while you still can and enjoy!
