To my best knowledge, this is an antique 19th century Western Apache lidded ovoid storage basket. It is a very rare find recently esquires from a high end New England auction. Handmade with superb craftsmanship, this basket features a beautiful design around the body and the fitting lid that showcases the tribe's culture. Its unique shape and intricate weaving make it a fantastic addition to any Native American collection.

The basket is rather large, measuring 18” tall (including the lid) and 9” in diameter at the rim (slightly wider around the belly). It has been well-preserved over the years with very little damage to the weaving. Some unraveling is observed near the rim. See photos and zoom in for detailed condition.
