DESCRIPTION:

Here is a classic hinged hair comb from the mid Victorian period. It is made from silver filigree in an ornate lacelike design. The heading is attached to the metal comb mount by a flexible hinge which allows it to rotate through a full 360 degrees, giving the ornament great versatility. It can be worn in the back of the style or above the forehead tiara fashion.

The heading of the comb is further embellished with pale mauve faceted amethyst and cabochon moonstones. The only minor issue is that one of the tines of the metal comb mount had broken off for half its length. This does not in any way affect its functionality and the loss of completely concealed when the ornament is worn.
