Who We Are:

Clearance Comics is the brainchild of Rich Davis (who also happens to write comic books for a living). The concept was inspired by his nearly 20 years of owning & operating a brick & mortar comic book shop. His shop won multiple Diamond awards & was even an Eisner Award finalist... TWICE! You may also recognize Rich as the comic book expert on Netflix's Swap Shop: Dash for Cash. 

Our Philosophy:

Here at Clearance Comics, we believe that your business is something we have to earn. We will never take you for granted. We believe that the best way to accomplish that is with fair prices, transparent policies, communication and top notch customer service! Our goal is to always be fair to the buyer and to ourselves. We don't want to sell you one comic, one time. We want to sell you lots of comics, lots of times!  

We also believe that comic books are made to be read. With that in mind, each of our listings should be considered reader copies unless specified otherwise. You should expect flaws such as blunted or bent corners, creases and maybe some tears here and there. Rest assured that the comic book will be completely in tact. No pages will be missing. That doesn't mean that our comics will all be trashed. Many of them are nearly perfect with very few flaws. Others might be much more damaged. Most of them fall somewhere in between. That's why we sell our comics for just $2.49! 

Know what you're buying before you buy it. If you're looking for comics ready for CGC, we're probably not the shop for you. We're liquidating more than 2500 long boxes of books so, for ease of use, we do use stock photos for most of our listings. Actual photos can be provided upon request. (See! We told you we believe in transparency! ) 

There are a few exceptions to the reader copy rules. Sometimes we'll have a nice key issue or semi-key issue or maybe a CGC graded book. We sell these as auction items. They likely won't be 9.8s, but they'll be better than our reader copies. We'll provide pictures of these books.

Why Are Your Comics So Cheap?

Because they're reader copies!

What is a "reader copy"? 

We define a reader copy as a comic that has cosmetic flaws such as color breaks, spine roll, bent corners, creases, tears, etc... These comics will be intact and perfectly readable but, unless they're among our key issue auctions, they will not likely be suitable for collectors, flippers, investors or others who are profit motivated.

Do You Combine Shipping?

Absolutely! Our combined shipping & handling rate is $4.99 - $6.99 (depending on the item category) plus $0.99 per item. 

Why The Per Item Fee?  

The per item fee takes into consideration the extra weight, packing materials and labor required to process your order.

Labor?

Remember when we said that our goal is to provide top notch customer service? That doesn't come cheap. We believe that when we take care of your employees, they will take care of our business. We pay them above average wages so that they always know that they are appreciated and respected. We hope you'll agree that this philosophy is fair to you and fair to us. If not, that's ok. We're just not the right shop for you.

How Do You Pack Your Items? 

It depends on the item. Our standard items are packed in rigid mailers while we use gemini mailers for our key issues. Our convention prints are shipped in mailing tubes. Our mystery boxes and CGC comics are shipped in boxes.   

Does It Really Cost That Much for Shipping? Or Are You Just Trying To Make Money?

Remember when we promised you transparency? Here's our chance to prove that. We're a business. Our goal is to make money. Why else would we do this, right? However, it really does cost us that much to ship your books. Here's how our costs break down per order:

POSTAGE: $3.92. MAILERS: $0.99 ($1.49 for Gemini). BAGS/BOARDS: $0.38. LABOR: $1.20. TOTAL: $6.49
