This is a lovely old large decorative original quality kitchen / butchers wooden handled sharpening steel.It measures 18 inches in length [ plus hanging ring ].The steel has a good quality wooden handle with a brass top,leading to a brass collar and onto the steel.The steel is marked AW ......... & SON SHEFFIELD Estbd 1829.The steel probably dates to the first half of the 1900s.It is in pretty good original condition with just some light wear commensurate with age and use.This lovely old decorative original quality sharpening steel would grace any collection or sit very well in any period or contemporary setting.
