Description

This listing is for a circa 1890s French figural sculpture of a boy holding a bunny rabbit by Henry Dumaige. The bronze measures 11 inches high and is 4 3/4 inches across the bottom.

The figural bronze is quite detailed and shows a nude boy standing in an outside setting holding a rabbit in his arms.  He has a jovial expression on his face, the piece has nice attention to detail throughout.  It has its original dark chocolate brown patina or color.  It is signed on the base "DUMAIGE", this for Etienne-Henri Dumaige (1830-1888) who was a French bronzier and sculptor born in Paris in 1830, where he worked during the mid-19th Century.  He exhibited his sculptures at the Paris Salon and the Academie des Beaux-Arts where he was widely acclaimed, he was adept in depicting groups, statues and busts in bronze, plaster and marble.

The bronze figure is in excellent condition with some minor variations to the patina. It is ready for your home or shop.  Please see the many photos for more on the look and condition as they are an important part of the description.
