8 natural golden star Sunstone cabochons originating from Norway. These weigh a total of 53.50 CTS between the 8 stones and have been cut into oval shapes. These are fairly good sized pieces and have an average measurement of 12 x 10 mm and an average weight of 6.68 CTS each.

These stones have noticeable vivid stars caused by asterism. This phenomenon causes a moving star of light to travel across the surface of the stone when exposed to a light source, either artificial or sunlight. The coloring on these are an attractive bright orange with undertones of gold.

There is no discernable damage or chips and are in excellent condition There are some slight natural inclusions and variations as typical with untreated cabochons. These are excellent sizes for rings, or could be used as part of a necklace or bracelet.

Many people are perhaps more familiar with a related feldspar stone, moonstone. This has a similar play of color but instead of shimmering blues it is more like moonstone's fair sister that exhibits gold, reds and oranges.

A small percentage of sunstones will exhibit a phenomenal asterism effect of a moving star of light. This is a similar effect found in star Sapphire and star ruby. When the gem is exposed to a light source a moving star of light will travel across the surface of the stone. Star sunstones are more rare than regular sunstones, and finding ones with this quality of color is even more uncommon.
