Antique 1870s Nine Patch Quilt Top, Hand Stitched

Presenting an Antique Nine Patch patchwork quilt top dating from 1860 to 1870s or earlier and skillfully entirely hand sewn. A great cotton country quilt top. This quilt is in as found condition. Entirely hand stitched patchwork quilt, 9 patch design, with other designs. Small scale printed calico repeat madder, chocolate prints, paisley prints with all the prints dating to the 1860's. Would look lovely in your summer cottage decor home or as a wall hanging art. A wonderful example of Americana folk art. 

This quilt is reminiscent of a very grand and regal period when quilters had time to skillfully finish a quilt.

CONDITION 

In excellent condition, with one split in a block as shown in photo.   No fading, no repairs, very little damage, unwashed. Just made and folded away for decades. Age related conditions with tiny storage spots scattered about, but excellent for being 160+ years old. There are hand done stitching, throughout at 6 - 7 tiny stitches to the inch. No backing material.   

APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS

The size is a generous 86" x 85".  Each block measuring approx. 9-1/2" x 9-1/2" square.

Standard double bed is 54" wide x 78" long. Queen bed is 60" wide x 80" long. King bed is 78" wide x 82" long.
