DESCRIPTION

A new edition of this work, revised by the author. Complete with six volumes.

An impressively detailed work of military history by Sir William F.P. Napier, British soldier and military historian. A later edition of this work, which was originally published between 1828 and 1840. A historical study of the Peninsular War between 1807 to 1814.

Napier's military histories are stated by the Encyclopaedia Britannica to be 'incomparably superior to any other English writer'.

Bound without plates of illustrations.


CONDITION

In uniform half calf bindings over marbled boards, renewed plain endpapers, four raised bands. Externally with light bumping and occasional chipping to head and tail of spine, gilt lettering to back strip faded. Missing spine labels. Rubbing to extremities and boards. Internally, firmly bound. Minor spotting affecting first and last few leaves, pages otherwise generally bright and clean.
