DESCRIPTION

A complete four volume set, rebound in a half cloth binding with renewed end papers. The original front covers have been bound in to the front of each volume.

Illustrated with 64 plates, many in colour with gilt detailing, and numerous in-text illustrations to each volume. Collated, complete.

A comprehensive four volume set concerning French furniture and decorative arts, from the thirteenth century until the 19th century, written in the original French by the art historian Henry Havard (1838-1921). These smart volumes are illustrated with striking illustrations, some richly hand-coloured with exquisite gilt detailing. This work was highly regarded; subscribers included "du Ministre de l'Instruction Publique, de l'Administration des Beaux-Arts, du Ministere du Commerce et de la ville de Paris".

Volume I covers A to C; Volume II covers D to H; Volume III covers I to O; and Volume IV covers P to Z.


CONDITION

Rebound in a half cloth binding. Externally very smart apart from a couple of marks to the front board of Volume IV. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned but clean. Plates are in excellent bright condition. Small repair to the fore-edge of pages 274/275 of Volume III.
