DESCRIPTION

With the inscription 'with the author's compliments Xmas 1910' to the verso of the front free endpaper.

The first edition of this very scarce work. 

The author's preface explains that this science fiction work was written ten years prior to publication, and that 'since that period we have seen the advent of Motor Cars and Wireless Telegraphy, with the discovery of Radium and Rontgen Rays' alongside 'colossal government blunders and the birth of enslaving wars'.

The novel is divided into two sections: forewords, and backwards.

CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Discolouration to back strip, with spotting to tail of front board, and handling marks to boards. Cloth fraying at joints, with hinges starting but boards holding firm. Inscription to verso of front free endpaper. Closed tear to tail of front free endpaper at gutter. Internally, firmly bound. Title page age toned, with majority of leaves lightly age toned to perimeters.
