This listing is for a 1988 silver round features a beautiful design commemorating the rescue of whales by the Inuit people. In 1988 3 California Grey Whales became trapped in in the ice of the Artic Ocean.  An amazing rescue effort was made and this medallion was made to commemorate the effort.  I'm not sure who minted this medallion but it looks like something the Alaska Mint would have produced.  I contacted the Alaska Mint and they kindly responded with "We helped helped Greg (Greg Prescott the artist) to have these coins minted before we were striking medallions here.  I don't remember how many he had made at the time.  They were struck in either California or Idaho". Crafted from 0.999 pure silver, it contains one troy ounce of precious metal content. The round has a round shape and bears the year of 1988. The seal of the State of Alaska is on the reverse side of the medallion. Produced in the United States, it is a wonderful addition to any collection of bullion or coins. This item has not been modified and is in its original condition.

Thanks for looking.
