This work is comprised of an account of how London was supplied by water, with a particular focus on the different companies involved and the attempts which had been made to adopt other modes. Also included is an account of the contrivances for supplying cities in different areas and countries.

With eighteen plates, as stated, and an extra plate to page 307. Comprised of full-page illustrations, folding maps and folding plates.
CONDITION
In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally, sound with slight rubbing to the joints and extremities. Bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine. Slight soiling to the boards, with a larger mark to the front. A little fading to the spine. Hinges are slightly strained, but holding firm. Light spotting to endpapers. Writing in ink to the verso of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with the odd spot. Tape reinforcing folding plates to page 61 and 92. Ink inscription to the reverse of plate on page 304.
