During Vietnam War, the US B Company Assault of the 9th Aviation Battalion, also known as the "Stingrays," played a critical role in providing helicopter support for ground troops and conducting air assault missions.

The B Company Assault was composed of highly trained pilots and crew members, who were responsible for flying a variety of different helicopter types, including UH-1 Hueys, OH-6 Cayuses, and AH-1 Cobras. They were tasked with providing close air support for ground troops, transporting personnel and supplies to and from the battlefield, and conducting reconnaissance missions.

One of the key roles of the B Company Assault was to conduct air assault missions, in which they would fly troops and equipment into enemy territory and provide fire support from the air. They were often deployed to areas that were heavily contested by enemy forces, and were credited with playing a key role in numerous successful operations.

The Stingrays were also known for their ability to provide close air support for ground troops. They would fly low over the battlefield, using their helicopters to provide suppressive fire against enemy positions and allowing ground troops to advance.
