IRussian Imperial Medal in Commemoration the 300th Anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty, 1913 issue.
This is a GUARANTEED ORIGINAL
medal made and issued in Imperial Russia just before WW1 – not a later reissue
or a replica!
The medallion is in brass,
measures 28.3mm wide and weighs 13.9 g not including the suspension and
connecting link. The medal comes with a new Romanov ribbon mounted on the
Soviet era suspension device for collector’s display. The connecting link is a
replacement.
The medal is in fair to good
condition. There is significant wear to the high points of the artwork on the
obverse; nevertheless, most details of the bas-relief portraits are still
clearly visible. The reverse is better preserved; the details of the lettering
are nice and crisp. There is dark toning to the brass on both sides.
The medal was authorized for
all state civil servants and active-duty military men, as well as those
individuals who took part in preparing the 1913 celebrations. Vast majority of
the recipients were required to purchase the medal with their own funds either
from the state or from a variety of private makers. Thus, the quality of the
medals varies greatly. This particular piece is a state mint issue.
