Quality Watercolour Painting

New College Oxford

By WILLIAM CALLOW

1812-1908

A beautiful period watercolour painting that is traditionally held to be a view of New College, Oxford. Some superb painting here by a giant of British art.

Age- c1860

Size- 16.5 by 18.5 inches approx including frame, mount aperture 8 by 9.75 inches approx.

Medium- Watercolours and gouache on paper.

Condition- Generally decent, we would be pleased to hang this as found. Some paper browning and a little fading commensurate with age,the odd light foxing spot in places. Please excuse the reflections in the glass from the flash photography.

Frame- Later glazed rickety wooden frame, some knocks, offered free with the painting.

Signature- Lower left.
