This photo is part of a MUCH larger and very eclectic collection of photos and documents that was purchased in Europe several years ago. The red and white acid free sticker on the reverse was part of the previous owners catalog and collection system

Up for sale is an exceptionally rare photo, especially for those fans of true crime, gangs, and the mob. In the aftermath of the theater bombing in Chicago, captured vividly in this original black and white photo from the 1930s, a dramatic police chase ensued. Identified as suspects fleeing the scene, two vehicles became the center of a tense pursuit. With gunfire exchanged between the passengers and law enforcement, the situation escalated rapidly. Tragically, one of the drivers was fatally struck in the head by police fire, while another passenger was also wounded. In a desperate attempt to escape, one passenger leapt from their vehicle, only to meet a fatal fate under the wheels of the trailing vehicle. This harrowing event resulted in the demise of both drivers and three passengers, casting a somber shadow over the streets of Chicago.

In the 1930s, theater union strikes became bloodier. In a two-month period in 1931, 15 theaters were bombed over labor disputes.
