Parker Brothers Game ‘My Mother sent me to the
Grocery Store’, box measures 5 x 6 ½ inches, cover marked “Parker Brothers Inc.
Salem, New York, London”, probably early 1900’s, box lid has wear, a few small
holes punched in on top and side, a bit of glue stuck to the cover above “My”,
bottom of box has wear and a tear on one edge, cards have wear, original
instruction sheet has pencil markings, a very well used shopping game that has
many hilarious possibilities, there are 20 cards with black line drawings of
children in various locations, they all have “My Mother sent me” at the top and
“to the…” at the bottom, small cardboard slips are printed with various items
like “a barrel of flour, “a bottle of toothache drops”, “some tripe”, “a wig”, “a
clean collar”, “a rubber doll”, a card draw game where you need to match up the
location to the item, lots of incorrect match ups but must have been fun to
play, not the best condition but still nice.
