Uncommon early and handsome view of an inlet in the Thousand Islands called Hill Crest by McIntyre.
Alexander Carson McIntyre (1822-1897) was native of Brunswick, New Jersey and opened his first daguerreian studio in Brockville, Ontario in 1855.During his photographic career he operated studios in Montreal, Ogdensburg, Alexandria Bay and ultimately Thousand Island Park.He made an extensive record of the region with many views presented in the stereo format.He recorded the visits of both President Ulysses S. Grant and President Chester A. Arthur when they visited the area thus printing on this and other views “Patronized by the President of the United States.”
