Selling a set of 8 metal folding travel hangers with original case.  4 appear to be shirt hangers and 4 appear to be for pants.

Owned by Eugene Van Voorhis (1864-1943), President of Rochester NY Bar Association in 1907.

Each collapsible shirt hanger is impressed with "PATENTED JUNE 16 1903" (or 1908) its hard to read

The case has a Trademark stamp inside on the leather.   The inside snap closure has Scovill Mfg. Co. stamped on it.  It appears that Scovill Mfg. Co. was located in Waterbury, CT.
The case was intended to hold the metal folding hangers for travel.
Each hanger when collapsed measures approx. 10"
When fully extended these antique travel hangers measure approx. 15 1/2"
They hang from a metal silver box link chain.
Unique Victorian folding travel hangers that were likely used on a steamship or train in the early 1900's.

  • Shirt hangers are stamped with patent date 6-16-03 (or 08?)
