This listing is for a WORKING Rare RCA Vtg Prototype Speaker & Box from a World's Fair. It is possibly a prototype or display from the fair, seemingly unused in its original box. I believe it is a one of a kind prototype model for speakers used around one of the fairs, or possibly a model meant as a display for the booth. It could possibly also be something meant to later serve as a patent model. It is marked with a tag bearing the signatures of various people who I believe designed it, as well as some adjustments one of them made. I have gently tested it, and it appears to be working. I will be attempting to attach a video to the listing of it playing music as proof of this. A great piece of vintage tech for use, display, or decor. It is the ultimate item for audiophiles, gamers, influencers, collectors of vintage tech & world’s fair items, gifting, & much more.

It originally comes from the RCA Meadowlands facility in Washington PA, when that division closed, one of its employees- my relative- purchased RCAs physical assets & inventory, including this unit I would assume. It likely sat in storage before & has since. Unfortunately the full provenance is unknown to me, and I have been able to find nothing further. I am unsure the year of worlds fair it would have been used for, as there is no official model number or manual. (All visible numbers correspond to the individual parts existing model numbers). It may have been made as a concept & then rejected for its cost, I am not sure. Likely one of a kind. The box has “world’s fair speaker” and a name written on it.

It is in good working condition, with no major damage. I have only lightly tested it, and not with full power or at highest volume. It appears to run just fine, and does not overheat or anything, I assume at full power it would run fine, but have not “run it hot” at a high volume. The top base speaker has one tiny tear near the edge (around 1/8 of an inch long) but in my light testing it did not affect sound quality. There is a very small bit of white goop, likely some kind of adhesive used in construction, stuck on the inside as well- this also does not appear to affect quality in my light testing. May be different on a high powered system or at high volume. The box has some staining and the top flaps are taped on, but the unit itself shows no body damage. Its body appears to be made of some kind of cast / machined metal- aluminum or light white metal- with speakers inserted all over. It has one larger speaker facing down at the top, as well as a normal sized one on the bottom. I assume all speakers are working- there is no break in sound- but I have not individually tested each of them. I have not opened up the unit or disassembled any parts in any way to avoid causing damage.

Thank you for your consideration, reasonable offers always shown, please see photos for details and measurements. Comes packed with extreme care (it will be packed in its original box- which will then be packed inside another even larger box, to avoid any damage.) and fully insured in shipment.
