A bit of history regarding welsh gold

Welsh gold from the Clogau St Davids mine is possibly the rarest gold in the world.

Gold has been mined in Wales since 1000BC and later by the Romans.  During the 20th Century the Clogau gold mine was the largest in Britain, it produced almost two and a half tons of gold between 1862 and 1911 but the gold has always been difficult to locate and as such expensive to produce.

This gold has been used by the British Royal Family since 1911.  Welsh gold has been used to make their wedding rings since 1923 when The Queen Mother (then Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon) married the Duke of York.  Other members of The Royal Family that have had wedding rings made from Welsh gold are Princess Anne in 1973, Princess Diana in1981, Camilla The Duchess of Cornwall in 2005. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s wedding ring in (1947) was also made from pure Welsh gold from the Clogau St. David’s mine as was recently the ring worn by Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge on 29th April, 2011.

The gold is now also used to make exclusive and unique pieces of jewellery which are admired and worn by their owners that include Royalty and celebrities.  You can purchase this beautiful Jewellery directly from the Clogau St. Davids Gold mine in Snowdonia, North Wales. The pieces come in presentation boxes and all carry a Certificate of Authenticity.

For those with British or Welsh ancestry owning a piece of jewellery containing Welsh gold gives you a lasting connection with your heritage that can be passed down through the generations.
