Antique Turned Wood Treen Ware Pestle Pusher or Masher Mystery Object Iron Nail


  • For your consideration is an early treenware
  • Whether it was used in the kitchen as a potato masher, a pestle, a muddler or  smasher it is a mystery to us
  • It could've been a stopper to a large crock
  • It has been somehow valuable back in time since it is very well elaborated 
  • Lathe turned hard wood with a hand forged iron nail on top; its head is shaped as a pyramid with decorative purpose in mind
  • Wooden tree nails (tunnels) all around the base part, possibly for enforcement or  they might've held some kind of lining
  • A very interesting and unique object, definitely quite decorative
  • Circa 19th century, found in New England - East Connecticut
  • All original
