Up for sale is a cover from the the MOSAiC Project--the Multidisciplinary Drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate. The project was completed in October, 2020. It involved the one-year icing-in of the German research icebreaker, PFS POLARSTERN, at latitudes north of 85° North latitude, where it became a floating ice-station, collecting climatic and oceanographic data, plus limited geophysical studies of the Arctic Ocean seafloor. The scientific contingent was rotated at various intervals by Russian aircraft, which also resupplied the ship with foodstuffs and brought mail and newspapers as well. The ship carried enough fuel to last the entire year and beyond. 

The program was occupied by scientists from 13 nations and several national and international research organizations. This cover was postmarked aboard the ship, which carries an official German postal center. The cover was postmarked on 13 December, 2019, but only disembarked and posted during a subsequent personnel change in May, 2020. The cover was addressed to me, so I have covered the address for the eBay listing because they don't like showing personal contact information. I am a retired polar research scientist with many voyages and expeditions to the Arctic [and once, to the Antarctic] and had friends and former colleagues aboard the vessel, so I was able to obtain several of these covers, on legal size envelopes. Your cover will reveal the uncovered information. 

Shipping will be made with a "stiffener" inside the shipping envelope to prevent damage in transit.
