BRIEF:
The Republic RC-3 Seabee was an all-metal amphibious sports aircraft designed by Percival Spencer and manufactured by the Republic Aircraft Corporation.In 1946, Republic temporarily left the field of military contracts to produce this unusual all-metal amphibian sea plane.It saw use mainly with private/civil use however also proved to be a versatile military craft.It was an unusual design post-World War 2. March 1946 saw the first production Seabee . However In October 1947 Republic discontinued production of the amphibian with demand not as initially anticipated.
Seabees became popular in the USA and Canada and were also well-suited for operation in countries with long coastlines, many islands, many lakes and large areas of wilderness. By the time production ended, 108 Seabees had been exported to several countries and dealerships were established in Brazil, Cuba, Panama, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Fiji, New Caledona, South Africa, England, Norway and Sweden.
In the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, the Seabee became one of the most popular bush planes and air ambulances in countries like Canada, Norway, Sweden as well as the USA. Many life-saving missions were flown by Seabee pilots rescuing seriously ill people from remote locations, as well as Seabee pilots making "impossible" takeoffs and landings from small lakes to deliver supplies
, Powerplant: × 1 Franklin 6A8-215-B8F or 6A8-215-B9F 6-cylinder horizontally opposed engine.The Trigull was designed as an improved and updated Republic RC-3 Seabee. It features a cantilever high-wing, a four to six seat enclosed cabin, retractable tricycle landing gear and a single engine in pusher configuration.
